Here are two burning-hot scans of Namco Bandai's Soul Calibur 4 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the latest next-gen iteration of the legendary beat-em-up with weapons. We get you the skinny on what's to expect with the title that has every armchair pugilist's thumbs and wrists twitching in painfully-sweet anticipation.
The first one shows off two of the game's iconic characters, Mitsurugi and Ivy, as well as the game's impressive backdrops. Note the extreme amount of detail in both Mitsurugi's and Ivy's armor - you can actually make out all the notches and designs on their gear. The shadow and lightning effects are looking none too shabby at all, giving a more realistic look to the battles you're going to be fighting.
In the second scan, we see three other instantly-recognizable characters from the game's roster, namely Taki, Siegfried and Tira. What's most notable about this scan is that it shows both the Soul Calibur and the Soul Edge, and their...

Sony Computer Entertainment America Senior Producer Sarah Stocker recently posted a canned interview over at the official PlayStation blogsite regarding upcoming title SingStar. The title is being developed by Sony London Studio and is expected to ship across North America by Fall 2007.
Stocker shared that one of the many firsts in this title is SingStar's very own online catalog, given its customization options and interaction with the community. The senior producer added that they designed this catalog with the PlayStation Network in their heads so the two are indeed a perfect match. Stocker explained:
Because the PS3 is online all the time, for the first time, we can offer the player the ability to pick their own songs from a wide online catalog available through the power of the PlayStation network. Whatever mood you or your friends are in, there s something for you up there in the hundreds of available songs.

A lot of people are excited about Harmonix Music Systems' Rock Band for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and why wouldn't they be? They upped the ante on Guitar Hero by adding another guitar, a drumset, bass guitar and even a microphone for the game.
If that's not awesome enough, the gameplay video that was released was just ripping featuring the engineers working on it and a cover track of Welcome to the Jungle. So if that's not enough reason to at least look at the game, I don't know what is. Anyway, if this game has grabbed your attention as much as it has ours, then listen up. Kotaku posted the FAQ for the game with lots of details that any gamer should take note off.

Jaw-dropping graphics and intense firefight sequences in this first E3 trailer of Midway's BlackSite: Area 51. While we've certainly seen quite a few gameplay videos of the the highly-anticipated FPS title for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, this trailer pretty much takes what we think we know of the game and just amplifies it to the power of awesome.
In this video, we get to a sneak peek at what looks to be the beginnings of BlackSite: Area 51 - where you're still gunning down enemy soldiers of the regular human variety. Things start to go downhill fast as the video segues into a frantic montage of alien-blasting action, from cyborgs to mutants to a giant hydra monster with tentacles large enough to snatch your own chopper out of the sky. Intense stuff, this.
No more spoilers from us, enjoy the video. You won't be disappointed.

When a rival's console is outselling yours by quite a large margin, it's certainly not surprising for one to worry. However, worrying may be the last thing in Sony's mind, with company spokesperson Nanako Kato saying that they feel the PlayStation 3 is in a marathon instead of a sprint race in terms of sales.
This statement comes as a reply to the question as to why the Wii was outselling the third incarnation to the beloved PlayStation console. While there are lots of speculation going around as to why - from poor advertising to steep pricing - Nanako Kato had this to say:
We developed the PS3 as a hardware that lasts for decades and believe we are in a marathon rather than a sprint.
With that said, SCE will accelerate the expansion of the PS3 platform over the next several months by offering a rich lineup of attractive software titles and pursuing own promotional activities as a platform holder.
Kato elaborated with the aforementioned promotional activ...

With the arrival of the next generation of video game consoles, Runescape developer Jagex has expressed a desire to bring the popular Java-based MMORPG to home consoles.
In an interview with video game news website CVG, Runescape creator Andrew Gower said that a console version of the game has been something that they have been considering, and the advent of the more internet-connected consoles has made the idea more tempting. Gower also noted that they could probably get Runescape running on the PS3 right now, and porting the game to other platforms, technically speaking, "isn't a huge amount of work."
However, Gower also revealed that Jagex is still slightly reluctant to bring Runescape to consoles. According to Gower, the more platforms the game is available for, the more Jagex has to update in parallel. "That would slow us down," said Gower. "We're loath to lose the rapid response ... that we've got at the moment, and the more platforms we go to the more than...
