It's official: there is no stopping Nintendo's momentum. As if it was just yesterday since the Wii reached 8 million, Ninty's product of innovation and waving sticks have finally arrived at the 9 million milestone - just a million away from Xbox 360.

Looking at the numbers VG Chartz had more than a month back, the Wii sold almost a million units since early June. The PlayStation 3 had a solid month and sold more than the 360, but both pale in comparison to Wii's performance.

On the handhelds side, the DS continues to dominate with almost 45 million units sold. Sony's PSP, while behind by a huge margin, still experience healthy sales as it got past the 22 million mark.

Let's not beat around the bush, here's what VG Chartz gathered:
Xbox 360: 10.08m (0.41m Japan 6.50m America 3.16m Others)
Wii: 9.05m (2.98m Japan, 3.64m America, 2.42m Others)
PS3: 3.69m (1.00m Japan, 1.58m America, 1.11m Others)

DS: 44.97m (18...

Soul Calibur 4 for the Sony PlayStation 3 is being kept a bit tighter under wraps by Namco Bandai than its brother Tekken 6. We've seen characters like Mitsurugi and Nightmare displayed in the past, and now we're seeing a bit more with these three new screens.

In addition to these details, we already know that old friends like Sigfried, Sophitia, Taki and Yoshimitsu will be there for seasoned veterans. We're anticipating a plethora of new modes and features that will take advantage of the next gen platforms they'll be appearing in.

It's amazing to think how far the Soul franchise has gone for Namco. When Soul Edge first appeared, some regarded it as a Tekken copycat with swords. The game has completely stepped out of the shadow of Tekken and paved the way for a deep, fun and lovable series replete with unique mechanics and characters we've grown to love. Here's hoping for more of that in the latest installment.

Although a bit late, 1Up finally released their interview with Sony CEO Jack Tretton and senior director Dave Karraker. After getting a little feedback from Sony's executives on the company's presentation at the E3 Media & Business Summit, ol' Tretton mentioned these minor details in the interview:Grand Theft Auto 4 was not at Sony's press conference during E3 because the publishers didn't send it. That's right: they sent an email and everything, but they just didn't get a video back, simple as that.Killzone 2 will not be released by this year. It'll be released on the first half of next year. When asked what motivates third-party developers like Insomniac to stay exclusive to the PlayStation 3, Tretton believes that it's because of a long standing relationship between Sony and Insomniac, and it's probably in the best interests of the company to stay exclusive. He also answered that it would be better for them to ask Ted Price himself (CEO and President of Insomniac Games) about...

A couple of months ago, there was heavy speculation that Tsutomu Kouno's LocoRoco game for the PSP was getting ready to roll into the handheld console's bigger kin, the PlayStation 3.

We'll be updating with some good news as Sony confirmed at the PlayStation Premier in Tokyo that a LocoRoco game is indeed being readied as a PlayStation Network download. That screenshot to the right should give an idea of how it look.

The PS3 port for the game has been dubbed Buu Buu Cocoreccho! by LocoRoco and is expected to make full use of the SIXAXIS controller's motion-sensitivity. Content-wise, it's expected to carry 200 LocoRoco characters. Sony hasn't revealed any release date details on this latest installment to the LocoRoco franchise, although they say it's already 95 complete. We'll get back to you in case we pick up more news.

Mac users will get a blast out of this one: Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 are getting a Mac version! And yes, you heard that right the first time. The news was announced by Mark Rein, vice president and co-founder of Epic Games, during a video interview. But other than that, there's nothing else to report. No release date has been given for the Mac version as yet.

Apparently, UT3 on the Mac has already been announced before on online forums, so this just makes the claim all the more formal. This is the first time that Gears of War, developed with the same Unreal Engine that powers UT3, has been announced on the Mac though.

UT3 has been announced to be a timed exclusive for the PS3, simultaneous release on the PC, and will soon come to the Xbox 360. Gears of War will be sticking with the 360 and the PC, at least until the Mac Version comes out.

In a recent interview conducted by community fansite BeyondUnreal, Steve Polge sat down down with BU's hal to finalize the first of many details as Unreal Tournament III preps for an all-out invasion on the PlayStation 3, Windows PC, Mac and Xbox 360. We know start of the story, and we know what enemies we'll face, but what we still don't know, Epic Games' Polge helped single out.

Unreal Tournament first debuted on the PC, and in honor of that tradition the PC version has been engineered to accept low-level hardware rig setups, while allowing monster machines to take full advantage of Unreal Engine 3.  Enthusiasts will have another title to gauge their systems' performance, but budget performance PCs won't be left in the dust.

In fact, Polge mentioned low level hardware performance was a focus for UT3. "Visually, the game scales very well to a wide variety of hardware," added Polge. But it didn't turn out well for the next generation consoles: althoug...

Although not officially announced at E3, Saitek's latest Cyborg Rumble gamepad for the PC takes the best of the Xbox 360 controller and enhances it with some FPS-friendly features. First off, there's a precision control toggle, which when activated, turns down the sensitivity on the sticks so you can go in for a headshot easier. If this sounds familiar, that's because the Splitfish FragFX controller does the same thing, except for the PS3. And then there's the Xbox 360-like design, which is perfect for all the ports of Xbox 360 games heading to Games for Windows this year.
There's also a Cyborg headset, which has 5.1 surround sound audio (three drivers in each ear) and a mic for jive talking. No pricing on either one, but they should be released later this year. [IGN]

You know that feeling of "that's it?" you had when you heard about Sony upgrading the PS3 from 60GB to 80GB and charging $599 for it? Sony's David Reeves had the exact same feeling. And he had the jalapeños to say it out loud. On the record. That's some spicy jalapeños.
Reeves says:
You know, the difference between 60 and the 80 gigabyte is very small. We just feel that going up 20 gigabyte is not worth it. If you're going to double it, it's worth it. So maybe you'll see something a little bit later, but 60 and 80, really not much difference. In his defense, he was just talking about the hardware upgrade, not about the whole $599 pricing structure as a whole. Hey, they added Motorstorm in that bundle, a $60 value (if you can't find a used copy anywhere). [NextGeneration via Kotaku]

While Peter Moore wasn't exactly this forthright when chatting it up with us, it's not totally out of character for execs to lash out at rivals from time to time. In the latest chapter of CE-Oh no he didn't, we find Mr. Moore claiming that Sony's "long-term business plan of being successful in Japan is crumbling." Moreover, he continued to knock the PS3 by sidestepping questions of why the Xbox 360 has sold so miserably in the Land of the Rising Sun and suggested that Sony was the one that should be worried about "getting outsold six-to-one." As a finisher, Peter added that he had "built a business plan for Japan," and while sales have indeed been lackluster, he claimed that "Sony was missing its plan by much more" than he was missing his. Seriously, them's fightin' words there.
