The European division of D3Publisher has polished up its titles for maximum exposure at the vast Leipzig Business and Convention Center, Germany. And in the Games Convention Developers Conference (GCDC) fast approaching in less than a month, gamers are assured that the presence of Dark Sector, Ben 10: Protector of Earth, Ed, Edd and Eddy: Scam of the Century, and Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire will be felt throughout the four-day European-centric event.
The Leipzig Convention will be the first event to feature playable, early versions of Dark Sector (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC), a third-person horror, action adventure combining bio-weapons and morphing to truly recreate a plague-ravaged Eastern Europe.
And right off from the Cartoon Network, Ben 10: Protector of Earth (Wii, DS, PSP, PS2) will have players wielding the Omnitrix as Ben Tennyson, fending off the evil Kevin 11 and arch-enemy Vilgax. The game is planned to extend the cartoon adventures straight to...

It's no secret that one of the games we've been waiting for is Clive Barker's Jericho (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC). Codemasters looks to be doing a great job in translating the work of Mr. Barker into a format we all love: video games.
The Vice President of branding at Codemasters Tim Woodley was recently interviewed by Pro-G, and gave a few details on the game. However, the big bomb he did drop was the fact that the game will not have multiplayer, which has become a staple in first person shooters such as this. However, they did this due to the fact that the game is very plot driven, which reflects the style of Clive Barker. Here's what Woodley had to say about it:
Obviously the game is quite plot-driven, so it is not going to include multiplayer. We thought long and hard about first-person-shooters, and how people expect them to include multiplayer in this day and age. When you think about what Jericho is, and how the storyline delivers and provides th...

Not satisfied with blowing up everything that's airborne and landborne, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames producer Jonathan Zamkoff wants to get wet and wild in the deep blue - the deep, deep blue in fact. Ruminate about submarines, submersibles and torpedoes and we're at the same sonar frequency as Jonathan, who thinks that going water underwater is the next direction for the critically-acclaimed series.
Wait a tick. Does that mean an actual sequel's confirmed, then? Zamkoff replies: "If I have anything to do with it, there will be." So it's not quite confirmed just yet, but there definitely are plans to make one. That's good news for us who couldn't get enough of the GTA-esque action of Mercenaries, being able to steal and commandeer any vehicle as well as massively-destructible environments.
Zamkoff elaborated more on what he believes the sequel should have. "We probably would be looking at underwater gameplay - submarines, scuba tanks and underwater actio...

2K Sports has announced that it will be conducting the first nighttime, outdoor motion capture event for their upcoming title NBA 2K8 (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) today in New York City at Harlem's well-known Rucker Park.
The event will be co-hosted by the Entertainers Basketball Classic (EBC) and NBA 2K8's cover athlete Chris Paul, as well as other NBA stars such as Andre Iguodala, Gerald Green, Gerald Wallace and Rudy Gay. These athletes' moves will be recorded for inclusion in NBA 2K7.
"Our talented motion capture team can adapt to almost any environment," said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "With our advanced motion capture technology, we're delivering the next generation level of realism to our sports titles and to have a motion capture shoot conducted at a real basketball venue adds even more authenticity to our game."
NBA 2K8 is slated for release this fall.

This is all unconfirmed for now, but a retailer is saying the Xbox 360 will get a $50 price cut come August 8. We haven't seen any pricing rumors since E3, where everyone thought the 360 was going to lower its price to match the PS3's "price cut," but that didn't happen. Peter Moore told us that they knew the PS3 was going to have a "price drop" for months now, which was obvious to them by looking at manufacturers and the supply chain. However, the "price drop" wasn't enough to jump-start the 360 camp into lowering theirs as well. Why now?
Here are some of the reasons we can think of.
• It's almost two years since the launch, which is about the time when most consoles make their first price drop.
• The 360 is selling fairly poorly, down 61% comparing the fourth fiscal quarter of 2006 to the fourth fiscal quarter of 2007 (Q4 fiscal is summertime for Microsoft).
• They want to differentiate themselves even more, pricewise, to the PS3. And lowe...

The high definition format war took an unexpected twist Sunday morning, when a group of thieves broke into a video store. What they took -- every Blu-ray movie in stock -- isn't as interesting as what they left behind. The gang ignored the HD DVD selection entirely, apparently deciding that only the BDA's baby was worth a five finger discount. Blockbuster choosing Blu-ray for its nationwide rollout is one thing, but being ignored when the price of acquisition is the low low price of free is a reality check for any fledgling standard. We suppose such early morning escapades are one way to build your library after getting the now lower-priced PS3, but it's not recommended. No word yet on if HD DVD fans are planning a coordinated group theft to reestablish the popularity of their chosen format.

We’ve had several firmware updates since we talked about what we want in our PS3 firmware updates. People finally have their PS3 backgrounds wallpapered up with chicks, cars, or whatnot. We have some good PSP to PS3 functionality happening, and our PS3 is media-serving like crazy now with DLNA (though not without issues). So I [...]
