Ted Price, Insomniac Games' CEO, has some kind words for Sony. Seeing as the game platform hasn't been given the recognition it deserves, he's chimed in on the matter, thinking that the media has been treating the console unfairly.
His assertion? That the media has turned the PS3 into a whipping boy. He tells GameDaily,
I think the PS3 has become the whipping boy for the press, quite honestly. I think everyone just wants to fill it full of arrows because Sony's had some pretty amazing success over the years. And it's easy to overlook that it's been, I think, the fastest selling PlayStation console. I think it's human nature to want to take down the guy on top, and Sony has definitely gotten its share of... mud [laughs] ... but it's unfortunate.
On the one hand, Sony has been receiving its fair share of negative press regarding the console. However, any share of negative press is bound to have its reasons, and in the case of the PS3, the prohibitive cost of...

Most people are now content with the knowledge that Beautiful Katamari is now being developed for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 consoles, but IGN reported a rumor that may turn some PS3 owners' worlds upside down: Beautiful Katamari for the PS3 is now getting axed in favor of a Wii version.
The reason, IGN's sources said, was that the developers encountered a crippling trouble in the making of the PS3 port of Beautiful Katamari, forcing them to halt the project. The PS3's currently sub-par sales was also rumored as a reason for cancelling the PS3 version.
This adds another Beautiful Katamari Wii rumor to the list, with the first BK Wii rumor getting debunked due to Namco Bandai's apparent disinterest in making a Katamari title for the Wii, whose success was still not proven then.
Namco Bandai has yet to answer IGN's queries about the issue, and until they have released an official statement its best to treat this bit of rumor with a grain of salt, despite IGN's s...

Sony is now confident that it is past its blue laser production problems, and is now going full speed ahead into its plan of meeting PlayStation 3 sales targets. Sony will ship about 11 million consoles starting immediately, until April 2008.
A Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson said:
Production problems have now ceased, we're in full production as far as Playstation 3 is concerned and there's a steady chain of supply in North America, Japan and Europe. We're aiming towards a much broader lifestyle for home entertainment enthusiasts, that's one of the reasons the Playstation 2 went on to sell over 115 million units worldwide.
Now producing about 1.7 million blue lasers per month, Sony has plenty to use on PlayStation 3 production, with some left over for Blu-ray players. Sony has stated in its annual report that it is expecting to replicate PlayStation 2's successful business model, and is confident that it will reach that level of success.

Ready for another batch of rumors from Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)? Straight from the magazine's rumor mill are talks of fighting games, fighting games, and even more fighting games.
Let's start with Street Fighter... 4. According to EGM, Capcom is planning to announce the next title in the ever popular series. Some people hope that Street Fighter 4 will come to the consoles: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Reportedly, Electronic Arts is also busy with two fighter titles, one of which happens to be Marvel Nemesis 2. A next-gen Mortal Kombat title is also on their list, though it wasn't specified whether it's a separate rumor from the existing MK one, which is already publicly known. Lastly, EGM mentioned a new King of Fighters title that would debut on the arcades and then get ported to consoles.
Hmm... Interesting stuff. Let's just hope they turn out to be real (the Street Fighter 4 rumor sounds very exciting). In the meantime, let's take these bits of in...

The makers of the Battlefield series, Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE) are set to impress us with another first person title. According to CVG, the intrepid game developers are planning to unveil a new video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The game, to be called Mirror's Edge, is geared to bring a lot more to the FPS genre - though close to nil is known about the game at the moment. Reportedly, CVG was shown an image from Mirror's Edge showing a girl in "futuristic punk" (it was mentioned that the image was reminiscent of the movie "Nikita," so use your imagination for the meantime). As it turns out, Mirror's Edge is one of the titles that Digital Illusions was hinting about (the other one being Battlefield: Bad Company).
So far, that's all the info we have regarding the game. Anyway, we'll be setting our internet bloodhounds on this title's trail. Stay tuned.

The cutscene, on the other hand is just as awesome. We can see that scale and detail of the in-game world, plus the start of the war.
Another video features a behind the scenes look at the sound effects of the video game. The creators of Lair actually visited a zoo to collect animal sounds. Anyway, we won'...

After a timely release on North American shores, Take-Two Interactive's The Darkness has shipped to the UK, as promised, but will be available for the Xbox 360 first. The PlayStation 3 version is set for release on July 20, goes the official announcement, and should feature more video content for in-game television.
"The Darkness takes the first-person action video game to new depths on both a visual and a gameplay level and brings the graphic novel to grisly new life," said 2K president Christoph Hartmann. "The Darkness" comics was authored by Paul Jenkins and published by Top Cow Productions, known for their novelty published title "Witchblade."
Marc Silvestri, founder of Top Cow Productions, said, "Since [Top Cow, 2K, and Starbreeze Studios] have all worked very closely on this project, fans of the comic book will be pleased with how accurately and effectively it comes to life as an incredibly visceral and enjoyable video game."
The game is still ra...

There's a new Japanese trailer out now for Blazing Angels for the Sony PlayStation 3 and we thought it's shaping up pretty nicely approaching its launch date. The game looks and sounds nice, giving players that old-school feel that the game projects. Have a look:
As the title suggests, Blazing Angels puts you in the cockpit of a fictional World War II squadron whose objective is to fly dangerous missions over Axis aerospace to knock down targets and tilt the war.
Blazing Angels goes out for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii. It has seen several release dates by Ubisoft across global regions and is set to take on Japan next.
