It's no secret that most Final Fantasy fans want a FFVII remake. Checking out all corners of the internet will reveal how many rumors and myths there are about Square Enix secretly working on Cloud's shinier hair for the PS3.
Ever since the tech demo, passionate followers believed in their hearts that the remake will indeed come. Well, here's big man Tetsuya Nomura's take on the matter:
"It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game]."
Yes, the FF character designer is talking here. FFVII director Yoshinori Kitase added that most people in FFXIII's development team are fans of the old game and want it remade. Is this some foreshadowing I see?
According to Nomura, the game originally had a character named Hot Blooded Detective Joe when creator Hironobu Sakaguchi wrote it. The story would've followed the main characters around throughout the ...

Famitsu's weekly most wanted chart is here again, with most titles just sticking around and vying for the top. Somewhat a good news for Xbox 360 though: Halo 3 got in at the 20th spot. Other than that, only 2 other games are in for Microsoft - both RPGs.
More than half of the list are pretty much RPGs or Action or both, showing that Japan's taste is really different from the west. The phenomenal series' upcoming entry, Dragon Quest IX, is still strong on top with Final Fantasy XIII coming a close second. Top 5 pretty much doesn't change with SE and Capcom both having a couple of entries, while Konami's got its much awaited MGS4.
Despite losing badly in the console sales race against the Wii, the PS3's got the most anticipated titles. Xbox 360 and DS are on fair standing, while PSP and PS2 got a title each to further Sony's domination on the list. Will Sony make a comeback in Japan? Doesn't sound too farfetched of an idea.
1, Dragon Quest IX (DS, Square Enix)

In a recently published interview by Worth Playing, Free Radical Design has pegged their upcoming next-gen shooter HAZE (still for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) as a worthy product to their impressive reputation as innovators in the first-person shooter genre.
They have used their prior experience in first-person shooters to deliver an action-packed game like never before. But this time around, they will also be taking the player through an emotional ride, tapping deep into the recesses of personal beliefs, convictions and the ethics of war. HAZE will sport a far deeper story, with emotional ties. Derek Littlewood, team leader of the project, explained:
One of our chief priorities has been to deliver a genuinely moving and emotional experience but never at the expense of the gameplay. The narrative is packed with rounded characters, each suffering or succeeding in their own human journey.
Perspectives change, and players will get introduced to...

We've seen a lot of videos so far featuring the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 versions of the title Transformers: The Game and each one adds more to our excitement about the game and the movie. This one features the Optimus Prime voice talent and how he came about with playing the role. Check it out:
The first thing we noticed about the guy is that his normal speaking voice sounds a lot more like what you'd expect to hear from a friend's dad or something. It's just so "middle-aged guy next door." In any case, once the dubbing process starts, he (or at least his vocal chords) transfigures into the mighty Autobot leader and everything else becomes so sweet. Imagine having this guy for your dad and telling the school bus to "transform and roll out" every morning when it picks you up. Even the school bullies will want to be friends with you.
As you probably know, Transformers: The Game is a direct spin-off of the movie which comes out in several ...

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is hiring for God of War for the PlayStation 3 console? This bit of speculation comes to mind after we picked up on a recently released Job Postings announcements SCEA has in circulation, which announced vacancies for the Senior Technical Artist, and Senior Designer/Combat roles.
Going into details on the Technical Artists, the role expected of them as something of a middle-man for the arts and technical departments. Their job is to ensure that the game's CG assets can be integrated into the game engine without sacrificing artistic integrity.
The Senior Designer/Combat, on the other hand, is responsible for (among other things) character and boss design, environmental character impact, special effects, sound effects, and AI gameplay layout. These guys are basically in charge of ensuring the combat aspect of God of War moves properly.
That's all the info we've picked up for this bit of speculation. Given that the PSP'...

The battle has come a long way. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft fought valiantly to invade Japanese households. Numbers for May are finally here, and Ninty dominates across the board.
Bloomberg reports that the Wii outsold the PlayStation 3 five to one. 251,794 more units have been sold to further increase Nintendo's market share. In the handhelds race, the DS took the lead with 620,670 - 123,673 against PSP.
With limited third-party support, Microsoft's hefty Xbox 360 sold only 11,082. Will Mistwalker titles win the hearts of Japanese gamers? It doesn't look like Halo 3 is enough to be a driving force, even if it's expected to bring Microsoft's gaming division its first profitable quarter ever.
As if its huge lead wasn't enough, Nintendo believes that their Wii will reach thrice the households at the end of this fiscal year. Some believe that a number of PS3 games will "murder" the Wii, Microsoft is deadset on spreading its influence in the Land of the Risi...

Finally we’re getting some decent information about Pelican’s new PS2 - PS3 controller adapter. The big thing about this thing was that it was supposed to make using Guitar Hero I and Guitar Hero II work on the PS3.
Well, it got it half right.
According to Gizmodo, GH1 works fine, but they heard lots of reports [...]

One of the main complaints about PS3's backward compatibility for PS2 games is the inability to use custom PS2 controllers like the DDR dance pads and the Guitar Hero guitars. For $14.99, Pelican gives you a cheap way to get your old controllers to work with your old games on your new system.
On the whole, standard PS2 controllers worked fine for us in games like Final Fantasy and Shadow of the Colossus, but for some reason one of our really old Dualshock controller was super sensitive when in the adapter. Using a new controller fixed the problems. The big "but" in this setup? No rumble.

Even with rumble-enabled games and a rumble-enabled controller, there's no rumble to be found. Darn.
Pelican also claims that this works with both Guitar Hero 1 and Guitar Hero 2, but we only own Guitar Hero 1 (the second we have for Xbox 360), so we could only test there. The result? Fantastic. It was just like on ...

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer of Devil May Cry 4 has finally given his two cents on the issue regarding DMC4's move from being a PS3 exclusive to a multiplatform title, as reported by Famitsu Xbox 360. He has this to say about the controversial decision:
Devil May Cry is an extremely strong name overseas...so there was of course the business decision that we couldn't exclude the Xbox 360. We're using an engine called Framework for development, and it's extremely easy to have a multiplatform strategy including the PC. You can say that Devil May Cry 4 is the first such offering. With the increase in platforms, we have the chance of more people being able to play the game, so we're also happy as developers.
As for DMC4 being better on either Xbox 360 or PS3, Kobayashi says that this shouldn't be an issue.
The content will be exactly the same. Regardless of which one you buy, you will be able to get the same enjoyment. What's different is perhaps the shape of the...
