Will Xbox 360 have the Royal Rainbow all to itself? At least, that's what Newsweek's N'Gai Croal is speculating. He points out the trend that's been happening recently in Namco Bandai. Cases in point:
Ridge Racer 6 was released as a 360-exclusive launch title for the 360. It should be noted that the Ridge Racer franchise has always been associated with the PlayStation consoles. However, Ridge Racer 7 became a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Also, Ace Combat 6, the latest addition to the previously Sony PlayStation-only franchise, was introduced as a timed Xbox exclusive game - with a PS3 version to be released after some time.
See any patterns? Croal supposes that Namco is in the process of "flirting" with Microsoft, though it could not let go of its long-time relationship with Sony. Well, whatever drama there may be, it's not impossible that the same thing will happen with the quirky little favorite that is the Katamari franchise.
Croal's source did...

Want another dose of The Darkness? With the release looming ever so near, let's take another look at what Jackie Estacado can do, shall we?
We've got another gameplay video from Starbreeze and 2K Games' video game that showcases the use of Jackie's faithful minions, the Darklings. In this video, we see the different types of Darklings that can be summoned from "tainted souls". There are actually twenty in all, though we only get to see a few in this gameplay video: Kamikaze, Interrogator, Gunner, and others.
Anyway, The Darkness (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) is scheduled for release in June 29 for North America and June 29 for Europe. In the meantime, check out the video. Enjoy!

When we say Sony's got good things going, we're not just talking about new PS3 firmwares or groundbreaking announcements. When the world's greatest female action character graces a console, you just know something's special.
Fortunately, that's not all Sony would brag about. When we say good things, we mean commitment from prominent game developers such as Team Ninja.
Yosuke Hayashi, the same man who made the PS3 smoke, dropped a few words to express his loyalty to Ninja Gaiden Sigma's home.
"There are some developers who have complained about the difficulty of developing for PS3. But, I am a creator, a developer - and by making a product, we receive money from the players. We shouldn't complain about the difficulty," he said, referring to other devs that find the console too complex.
"If they think it's difficult, they should get out of the ring," he continued. This can only mean one thing: Hayashi is here to stay for the PS3. "As I said,...

There have been mixed reactions regarding Harmonix' upcoming title, Rock Band. Its scale alone is overwhelming, making skeptics think it would be difficult to pull off. Many fear the price tag that would come with the game, while hardcore rock fans fear not how much it would cost.
Some of its biggest features are finally revealed by Game Informer, as a poster over at NeoGAF forums reported.
As expected, there will be four campaigns on a single disc: guitar, drum, bass and vocal. The co-op mode will cater for the full band. Both Xbox 360 and PS3 will support online four-player mode, but multiplayer can be done offline.
Network will allow setting up a gig with anyone from anywhere in the world, so let's hope there won't be lag or delay. Guitars and bass get a makeover, now having 10 frets - half will be for regular sections while the others will be for rockin' out solo. Whammy bar and tilt (which activates Rock Band's version of Star Power) is back, along wit...

For sure. When Microsoft seemed bent to advocate Live Anywhere to game developers in order to connect console thumb-flippers to PC twitchers on what might have been the modern gamer's World War I, they probably didn't expect to be stopped dead cold by Infinity Ward's two-lettered dumb-founder: "No." Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ain't going Live, says Infinity, and that's that.
But Infinity Ward's Grant Collier did reveal in an interview with IGN that CoD4 (for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) was not going to be a sandbox destructive game. Instead, they've put more focus on producing better frame rates on the game than creating a world that's "totally destructible."
And according to Collier, full destructibility is just another fad in the shooting genre that could end sooner than later. While everyone is else is requesting for such a feature, Infinity Ward doesn't feel that it delivers fun in any of the games that are being designed with t...

We're all hungry for a PS3 price-cut. No buts, no excuses. Fanboys and haters alike would rejoice when our wish finally comes true. Unfortunately, it's not likely to happen anytime soon. The good thing: Sony CEO Howard Stringer recognizes our pleas.
Stringer told the Financial Times in an interview, "I think that the public would like the cost to be lower, there's no question about that." However, it doesn't seem easy to cut prices when the company is already losing money for every console sold. Asked how much they could cut, he could only answer, "That's what we're studying at the moment; that's what we're trying to refine."
"It s a good story right now, 'Will PlayStation 3 get to Christmas?' And the answer is, of course it will get to Christmas," he continued after stating we'll hear something about the price drop by Christmas. What good story he's talking about, we can only guess.
Stringer is pretty positive about the PS3's future. Here's his take:

EuroGamer had a brief sit down with Ubisoft Montreal's Jade Raymond to talk about the subtle clues hidden in the recently released Assassin's Creed (for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) trailer, only to find out that Ubisoft is still staying as secretive as ever. Even though they have claimed to be dropping pretty "obvious clues" to the mysterious plot of the game, only a devout few have pieced enough information to point out a "conspiracy" that actually runs in real life today.
But before we get carried away, the producer was also set against a few questions not related to the mysteries revolving Altair and his missions in the Third Crusade era. Raymond had given her own views of games as an artform - a direction the gaming industry has always targeted for. She may not think that the industry is at the point of equating games as art - yet.
She said, "Well I do actually think of games as an artform and an entertainment form." But in her views (and as far as ou...

More evidence that consoles aren't just about overweight couch potatoes. Sony is announcing their presence for this year's upcoming Dew Action Sports Tour (aka AST Dew), via the PlayStation Experience, which is expected to be one of the tour's highlights. The PlayStation Experience will give visitors a chance to see some of the latest wares Sony has to offer for the PS3, PS2, and PSP.
Another event that's expected to make it big in the AST Dew tour is the PlayStation Trick of the Week. Here, fans select their favorite stunt/trick from the skateboard, BMX, and FMX sports categories via recorded footage, after which they're invited to vote online. This event kicks in at noon on the Monday following after each tour, and will last for an entire week. Each of the four Trick of the Week winning athletes will receive US 5,000. Winners for the Tour's of Trick of the Year will be awarded US 10,000 in cash, plus PlayStation-related loot.
Now, in case the guys here are w...
