IGN has a small preview of Guitar Hero III (GH3) for the PS3. First off, you’ll be happy to know that the controller will be wireless and will also be very similar to the 360’s guitar controller, also wireless.
The interesting thing for me was that when Activision bought RedOctane, they didn’t get the source [...]

It seems that Sony is learning how to grab the general public's attention - from Nintendo. The PlayStation 3's first marketing campaign was mostly geared for hardcore gamers, and Sony didn't fail to win their hearts (and pockets) with their Play Beyond campaign. Now, it seems that they have just realized that the hardcore gamer market is just a small piece of the big picture.
Sony's new advertising campaign for the PS3, tentatively titled "Sony Lifestyle", may take it's cue from Nintendo, purveyors of games for everyone. Nintendo has always been known to create casual gamer-friendly titles and games - thus their emphasis on party games. It's evident on how well they're doing when it comes to making their Wii and Nintendo DS appeal not just to the stereotypical male, but also to the girl next door, your neighborhood librarian, and quite possibly even your grandmama.
There aren't much information about how the new PS3 commercials will turn out, but look...

The last thing we heard from Quazal Technologies was that Midway Games had licensed their middleware software. This time, the online multiplayer software provider has just released updates on their products - Net-Z, Rendez-Vous, and Spark!
Quazal Net-Z received an upgrade on its peer-to-peer technology. An addition was a client-server topology that will work along with the peer-to-peer technology which will enhance the general connectivity. Quazal Rendez-Vous sports an enhanced compatibility with the Xbox 360's LSP.
This opens a whole lot of options for developers to place additional multiplayer options (like clans or guilds, tournaments and matchmaking features). Players will be glad to know that this technology will start cropping up in video games come this fall.
Lastly, Quazal's Spark! (dubbed lobby-in-a-box) got "pimped" in the featureset department, giving additional leaderboard and ranking system options. The software has been released for the Xbox 36...

Speaking to gaming news blog Riottt, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Producer of Capcom's Devil May Cry 4, revealed that Nero's Devil Bringer was implemented in Devil May Cry 4 as a means for developers to spice the gameplay up. Kobayashi reasons that they felt that they "reached the limit of what you can do with swords and gun action games" So a third action, the Devil Bringer, was there to change things up and make something new.
As to the reason's Why Dante doesn't get the Devil Bringer or something similar, Kobayashi had this to say:
Actually, I wasn t aware of it until recently, but tests were done with Dante using The Devil Bringer, but when the team actually tried it, they realized that Dante with The Devil Bringer is just simply not Dante.
It was also revealed that Dante will appear in the game as one of Nero's enemies, but then will eventually become a playable character. Since they intend that this fourth installment be a new start for the series, they feel that pl...

Sony's PlayStation portable (PSP) now has a new version 3.50 firmware update available, letting you access music, pictures and videos on a Sony PlayStation 3 from a PSP wirelessly connected to the Internet. When Sony upgraded its PS3 firmware to version 1.80 last week, one of its key features was Remote Play, giving you media streaming over a network, but the missing link was the ability to receive that content.
In this PSP firmware update, Sony also threw in a RSS Channel Guide for those newbies not familiar with that concept, but the real deal here is that Remote Play trick. It's a bit of a misnomer because it won't let you play any PS3 games remotely on a PSP. Own both devices? Now you can go all-Sony, all the time. Fanboy. – Charlie White

We like having a sense of finality in our release dates. It keeps us from having to respond to a deluge of comments from gaming fans who were expecting our news to be final. Still, when developers have a job to do, and they absolutely HAVE to take some extra time to do it, then we don't mind the comments so much.
That being said, a new post on myresistance.net from Greg Phillips, a line producer at SCEA, made it official. According to Phillips, the worldwide release date of the content updates and map packs for Insomniac Games' Resistance: Fall of Man is now set for June 7.
For those who don't have access to the myresistance forums at the moment, here's the pertinent information, along with an explanation for why it took so long to release:
Well, we're finally ready to announce the worldwide release date of the content update, as well as the release date for the Japanese and US map packs, and that is June 7th. More info on the European map pack release date ...
