QJ reader rizz0 gave us word that Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, the upcoming game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is going to be featured in the front cover of GamePro's June 2007 issue.
The issue is set to reveal details on Nail-the-Trick mode, skater classes, the game's full-featured video editor, the revamped multiplayer. GamePro claims they'll have many more to reveal about the latest in the franchise, but if we add that in, we'll sound like an infomercial... (But wait! There's more!)
Perhaps what's most interesting about this issue is that GamePro claims to have managed to get word from Tony Hawk himself. Supposedly they've got what he has to say about Neversoft's latest efforts. That, and his two cents on the state of EA's competitor, Skate.
The issue is set to come out on May 15. We'll give you the details (if they really are THAT exclusive) then, or possibly earlier (if they just give you stuff from the Interwebs, which we'll relay to you ...

Dvineo presented an intriguing accessory for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Sony PlayStation Portable: An HD movie player! The drive has a wide range of compatible formats whether they be video, audio, images and game saves. You can get digital media from non-write protected discs, convert them to desired formats and store them to the PS3 hard drive or the PSP SD stick.
In terms of videos it can read MKV, Xvid, DivX, MPEG 1, M1P, MPEG 2, TS, M2P, WMV, ASF, MP4 and AVI. The interface lets you manage and back up files when you attach the drive to a PC. If you're into music, it can read CDs, iTunes and other popular formats. You can convert WAV files to MP3 with automatic completion of track details via the online server's help. What's more, management is as easy as dragging and dropping the data.
With the Xploder software, images can be viewed in a gallery as thumbnails on your PSP and PS3. Again, dragging and dropping is the operative term. The same is true about manag...

You gotta hand it to the guys over at Tecmo, they really know how to throw a party. Free booze, big announcements and a demo of the much-anticipated game Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the Sony PlayStation 3. There was also a lot in store for the Nintendo crowd as it was announced that Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword for the DS and Project Rygar for the Wii were confirmed. Xbox 360 fans have no reason to feel left out as a new deal with Microsoft was also bannered.
Tecmo's Nite Out 07 was highlighted with the confirmation of Sigma's June 14 release in Japan and July 3 for the US. Everyone was invited to try the demo of the game which was near the final version, and there were more conclusions drawn aside from the fact that the visuals were better than ever.
The most obvious was the fact that the difficulty was steepened by the development team. In fact, the champion of the last Ninja Gaiden masters championship was there to fight two bosses. The crowd cheered him on initially but l...

Talking to Beyond3D about their baby MotorStorm, technical director Scott Kirkland stripped the hood off the game and revealed how many of the PS3 gears MotorStorm runs on. In SPU usage terms, he says the game "only uses between 15 and 20 percent of available SPU resource."
On how it stacks up with an earlier assertion that MotorStorm uses all of PS3's SPUs, we can infer that the game runs across all of the Cell Processor's processing units, but it still all averages out to 15-20 of total available processing resources. After all, Scott enumerates exactly what runs on those SPUs:
Havok physics.Determination of object visibility.Concatenation of hierarchies.Billboard object culling and vertex buffer creation.Updating of particles and vertex buffer creation.Updating of vehicle dynamics.Updating of vehicle suspension constraints.Audio (MultiStream).Video decoding. Not on that list are rendering MotorStorm's dirty graphics: "We don t use the Cell s SPUs in this way at t...

IGN's taken the Nyko PS3 Intercooler out for a spin on their PS3s and came to one conclusion: It's loud. The cooler itself attaches to both the back and the side of your PS3 and has a knob to adjust fan speed depending on if you're doing some heavy duty processing (like Folding@Home).
However, beyond stating that it makes the PS3 noticeably louder and that it moves "dramatically more air" through the PS3, there's not much information. What's the temperature reading before and after you add this on? While playing a movie? While using Folding @ Home? While gaming? We'll try and get a hands on and see for ourselves. – Jason Chen

Sega of America has announced that it will be bringing a new action-adventure video game for the platforms of PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PC, and PlayStation 2.
The Golden Compass is based on Philip Pullman's best-selling novel, and is, in fact, also a major motion picture from New Line Cinema. But here in the game, you expand the experience as Lyra Belacqua, who is on a mission to rescue her uncle that's in prison, as well as her kidnapped best friend. To aid her in her quest are her friends Pan the spirit daemon, Iorek the armored bear, and of course, the Golden Compass - that one source of truth that will help Lyra find the correct path.
The Golden Compass game guarantees that it will remain true to the movie, bringing to video gaming life the characters, locations, and scenes, as well as creating the characters in the movie actors' likeness, like Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, and Dakota Blue Richards.

The premise of The Club is not really new ( cough Fight Club cough ). A blood-sport financed by the insanely wealthy will pit eight highly skilled killers in a kill or be killed contest.
Bizarre Creations adds a new spin to the first person shooter genre, mixing it with beat 'em up and racing gameplay. So what more can we expect from the upcoming run and gun video game? The Club features five single player modes (Standard Mode, Time Attack, Survivor, Siege, and Run the Gauntlet) and nine multiplayer modes of up to 16 players online and four players (on split screen offline for Xbox 360 and PS3). The Club also sports eight real-world locations ranging from abandoned factories to steel mills.
It also has a motion blur system which makes for more dramatic gameplay plus the environments can be manipulated to the players' advantage. Players will earn points for efficiency and accuracy, and accumulated points can be used to unlock weapons, maps, and characters. The Club...

Why do we post announcements of announcements of announcements? Simple, because sometimes that's all the "news" there is on the game, and sometimes you just got to eat. Take for example our old post back on May 01 about Ubisoft and Free Radical Design's Haze, all we had then was a poster that asked folks to wait for May 10. Well, that's all we had to work with back then, so there it was.
Anyhow, it's past May 10 already, and what did those guys have in store for us? Well my gosh, my golly (can I get any cornier?), it's a preview video! Ta-dah:
You guessed it, that's all we have for now, but we'll keep trolling teh intarwebs, and when we find something, rest assured we'll let you know.
Haze is set to grace the PC the PS3, and the Xbox 360.

Okay, we've given you a bit of info before about Sega's Condemned 2: Bloodshot, and we did say we'll update you folks about that game. So as promised, here's a few more on the first-person thriller. In Condemned 2, you play as Ethan Thomas, former Serial Crimes Unit investigator. You've been called in to track down your missing partner.
There's supposed to be this big conspiracy, and you're supposed to go all emo (this means that he has a dark and tragic past) with the sad, sad mister Thomas while you you unravel "the mysteries shrouding the city in darkness."
Odd that this game allows you to solve a mystery using a set of high-tech offensive tools, and at the same time engage in "visceral combat" that allows you use offensive combo chains, grapples, and holds. It seems that the point of this is that you have the choice to either use brute strength or wits to solve the mysteries thrown in your direction.
The multiplayer portion of the game promises to deliver...
