Here's some more goodies from the Sony Gamers Day 07, and this time, it's on the up and coming Factor 5's action adventure title for the PlayStation 3, Lair.
The first video you'll be seeing is the Bloodbath gameplay, and oh, boy! It certainly is bloody. Of course, there's not a chance you'll go unscathed, especially if fire-breathing dragons are literally breathing down your neck. You definitely would want to master your maneuvering skills for this one.
The second one, on the other hand, is the trailer tailor-made for the Gamers Day. You'll basically have an overview of the sceneries that will greet you and will be the witness of the many battles you will be getting yourself into. It also shows some amazing cut-scenes that showcase the amazing action awaiting you and your dragon.
Anyhow, we'll leave you to enjoy the videos for yourself. Just click play.

You definitely wouldn't want to get in the path of one angry barbarian. Say, like Conan. If you check out this vid (and we're confident you will), you'll have all the more reason to avoid him, especially when he's in a fit of rage.
But if you're the one playing Conan in THQ's Conan the Barbarian (for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii), we're sure you wouldn't mind cause he exudes cool. Just check out that body throw he performs against his pitiful foe. Neat, huh? Anyhow, you'll find that kind of action and more here in this Barbarian Rage gameplay we picked up from GameTrailers, who in turn picked it up from the Sony Gamers Day. Videos are sure raining down upon us today.
Catch one before you catch a cold.

LittleBigPlanet was one of those games that wowed gamers and pundits way back in GDC 07. Along with PlayStation Home, it was part of the one-two punch that Sony delivered to try to win back folks who were starting to feel a lack of confidence in their latest console offering, the PlayStation 3.
It's May already, and the hype (LittleBigHype as Gino D so creatively coined) and anticipation for the game isn't dying down. So what better to offer to you folks, than the latest trailer for the game. This one's from Sony's Spring Gamer's Day. Enjoy!
It basically shows in video form what all the bulleted lists have been imparting to you folks. Yes, we're still mostly glad that there is yet to be any hint of incest and/or cannibalism in this game.
Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet is officially expected to hit shelves during the first quarter of 2008 - unless of course the rumors that it'll see a fall release prove true.
Oh, and just because we feel the need to...

As their formal press announcement says, "The Last Remnant is positioned to take on the world." Why does Square Enix have the guts to say that? For one thing, the game is scheduled for a simultaneous US and Japan Release (with a EU release already planned). Moreover, Square Enix's latest game is set to be released for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
What's more interesting is that as far as gameplay goes, you get this: "In The Last Remnant, as many as seventy units will duke it out at once in fierce yet beautiful battles. Backed by the visual power of next-gen hardware, the unique play style and battle system will challenge and invigorate players like never before."
It can be recalled that Ninety Nine Nights, a straight out Dynasty Warriors-esque game featured hundreds of opponents. Perhaps the strategy involved in just facing a paltry 70 enemies will make up for the small number. After all N3 got criticized for repetitive, uninspired gameplay scena...

Okay, a quick run through of what was on display and what was revealed at Sony's Spring Gamers Day 2007 at its San Diego Campus.
SOCOM Confrontation - Shown video only; the game had a Middle Eastern theme to it, with SEALs wandering through various environments. The game boasts 32 players per map and will be multiplayer only. It will be available on both the PlayStation Network and via Blu-ray. It should be out by Fall.
Warhawk - Was there and turned heads. GameDaily's Chris Buffa called it "a monster" and "the only reason to own a PS3 in 2007."
Heavenly sword - Reportedly wowed the press in attendance. The combination of slick visuals and hard-hitting combat won people over. What's worrisome though is the report that the game slows down when things "get crazy" (we assume this means a whole lot of enemies). Revealed gameplay elements include the main character's (Nariko) "range stance" (she swings her weapons on extended chains) which is activated...

Heads up - moving eye candy coming your way with the latest video of the highly-anticipated Eye of Judgment from SCE Studios Japan. We've been teased and we've been left craving for more, but now here's some gameplay along with a developer to walk us through the battle mechanics.
In the video, we get to see the start of a match. Like any card game, you have the elements to contend with, represented by the tiles. These tiles yield bonuses or penalties depending on the monster's type that you summon on them. There's also the mana factor, or the 'money' you spend in order to summon the creatures. And to win the match, you have to occupy at least five or more tiles on the board. Typical card-game fare, really - but instead of letting your imagination do the work, the PlayStation 3 does it for you, letting you see your own creatures duke it out.
Great presentation, decent voice acting, and an interesting, albeit simplified game mechanic. Here's hoping the other major card...

Since we promised that we'd deliver to you folks as much info from Sony's Gamer's Day 07 as we could, here's all the Heavenly Sword related stuff that GameTrailers saw during the event. First up, is a new trailer for Ninja Theory's action packed game for the PlayStation 3. Gollum, er, Serkis, really sounds menacing in this one.
Next is the onstage demonstration for the game. The demo starts where the product placement in the "Heroes" TV show ends. Combos, attack modes, ground kills and a whole lot more were demonstrated. Unfortunately, the guy in charge "accidentally" killed all the enemies, so there weren't enough thugs to show off all the moves.
The game is reportedly 90 percent finished, and should be released come Fall '07. A Heavenly Sword demo that is to be released before the game hits shelves has also been confirmed.

Despite the many reported losses that the games division of Sony is reportedly getting due to the less than dominant performance of the PlayStation 3 so far, it is surprising to hear that the company still predicts profits for the fiscal year.
The company as a whole forecasts a record profit for the fiscal year through March 2008 at US 2.7 billion. This profit is attributed to booming sales of flat-panel TVs and digital cameras.
So when can we expect the games division to recover?
According to an Associated Press report by Yuri Kageyama, a Sony executive said that Sony will lose about US 413 million in this fiscal year, and recovery from the losses won't come until the arrival of more games to play on the PlayStation 3. Senior Vice President Takao Yuhara said that what's most important for Sony right now is software.
Yuhara declares: "In every region, our software lineup will be strengthened."
Great. So yet another executive/analyst/company s...

Australia's game charts are turning out to be mighty predictable this month.
What's new? Aside from the fact that Spider-Man 3 is top Xbox 360 game down under, nothing much. There still isn't much motion in the Wii charts. The PlayStation 3 charts still has Resistance: Fall of Man on top, and World of Warcraft is still wowing people, so to speak. Perhaps the most noteworthy game this week is Guitar Hero II, whose large fan-base pushed big sales on the Xbox 360.
As for the all format charts, God of War 2 for the PS2 is still king, but you probably expected that.
The GfK Australian Game Sales charts follow below. If you want to take a look at them in closer detail, just click on the pics to magnify.

A few months ago, OXM hinted a new game based on Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It was more of a rumor, actually, but now it's coming back and seems more real. In Game Informer's "Loose Talk" column, it said that developer Starbreeze Studios is currently making a remake of Riddick.
According to the article, the game will offer better graphics thanks to the PS3 and 360 next-gen engines, plus a bonus chapter. While still unconfirmed, fans who got their hands on this gritty FPS are probably excited in getting it. We'll make sure to cover any new info about this sleeper-hit getting a remake.
