We got word that the next issue of the PlayStation Magazine (PSM) will mark the resurrection of the Sly Cooper video game franchise. Accordingly, Sly Cooper 4 will make an outing on the PlayStation 3 while an all new Sly Cooper title is scheduled to appear on the Playstation Portable.

Aside from this, the report mentioned that the two titles will be officially revealed during the upcoming E3 Media and Business Summit 2007 in July. The franchise is owned by development studio Sucker Punch Productions and all the first three installments were released on the PlayStation 2 (PS2).

What's more interesting is that Sly Cooper 4 and Sly Cooper PSP will be released simultaneously and will have some sort of connectivity. The following is an alleged snippet from Sucker Punch that is included in the PSM's article on the matter:

The graphics have been majorly overhauled and the gameplay will be more varied and focused this time around. We're aiming for a fully interacti...

We're hearing more and more about Tom Clancy's EndWar with each passing day. A couple of days ago, we learned that the title will have full support for voice-activation which is good news since consoles don't mix well with RTS games in general.

During Ubidays 07, a new trailer video was shown with complete commentary from the devs themselves. Today, Ubisoft Creative Director Michael de Plater said that the video game will be publicly beta-tested later this year (around November). Plater said,

We really believe that as soon as anyone can get their hands on the controls and experience it, it'll be something new and it's a level of immersion and realism and accessibility that's never really been in a strategy game. We're really focusing on getting our beta-test out for November.
Aside from this, the creative director also hinted that the World War III scenario for EndWar is a fertile ground for sequels. Currently, EndWar is scheduled to appear both on the Xbox 360...

LucasArts and Telltale Games announced today that they are collaborating once more to come up with a new installment to the LEGO Star Wars video game franchise. The new game will be called LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and will be released Fall 2007 on platforms PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS.

Well, the game is not new in the traditional sense. The movie series' Episode 1 to 6 used to be divided into LEGO Star Wars I and II. LucasArts mentioned that this is not a simple re-compilation as it also includes new characters and features as well as revamped levels. TT Games Director Tom Stone commented,

LucasArts was an amazing partner on LEGO Star Wars II, and working with them on The Complete Saga continues to be a great experience. We're also thrilled to be focusing on next-generation consoles and creating content that plays to the strength of each system.

Speaking of which, the 360 and PS3 versions will both have online capabilities that will all...

We spotted a few more details regarding the new firmware for Sony's next gen PS3 console. If you're running Windows Vista on your PC, then this will be good news for you. According to Carl Nelson of the HCW Tech Blog, firmware 1.80 will let you share media on your Vista-running PC with the PS3. Well, Vista does support DLNA after all.

If you're still running on Windows XP, it seems that upgrading to Windows Media Player 11 and fiddling with the settings a bit will still let you share your media. Some formats are still not supported though, such as native .ts files and lossless WMA files as well as DivX/XviD files. Anyway, here's a look at the PS3's XMB streaming media interface.

Nelson also notes that video streaming seems a bit stifled at the moment, and recommends that you "need to demux, convert the audio to stereo, then remux again". Mac users, on the other hand, are advised to try installing either TwonkyMedia (if you have money) or the VideoLAN VLC media pl...

We all still have to wait until June 21 before Sony gives its official word on the much talked-about 80GB behemoth PS3 that is going to be released in South Korea. However, provided that this is a reality more than a fanboy's dream, have you ever thought what purpose the extra space is going to serve?

No, we're not talking about your media files, or saved games, and whatnot because it seems that Sony is planning something better. According to the company's affiliate in SoKor, Sony is in fact "in talks with multiple local telecom operators to enable people to enjoy video-on-demand (VOD) services via PlayStation 3 consoles."

The spokeswoman refused to elaborate on specifics or what companies are involved with this. But should things push through, it is very likely that domestic landline telecom carriers Hanaro Telecom and KT will be part of the project. One representative from Hanaro commented,

We are negotiating with Sony and the atmosphere is pretty good. We ...

Since we told you about Sony's PS3 firmware 1.8 rollout yesterday, there's new information and screenshots surfacing as the firmware rolls out across the world.
Since the announcement and rollout yesterday, what else have we learned about the PS3 1.8 firmware?

As Chen mentioned, top of the list is media sharing via DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), so now you can stream your media from it to a Windows Vista PC (or an XP machine running Windows Media Player 11, or a Mac), and view it on your PS3, just like you can with your Xbox 360. Drawbacks: You can't play lossless WMA files, nor can it play back HD transport stream formats (.ts) or DivX/ XviD files yet.
Soon you'll be able to use your PS3 like a Slingbox, that is, if you have a Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). It'll be able to stream media over the Internet to your PSP, so wherever you go, as long as you have an Internet con...

Who would have thought that a group of rubber duckies could actually make it as one of the best downloadable games ever to land on Sony's PlayStation 3? Apparently, Sumo Digital did, hence the creation of Super Rub-a-Dub.

"...Sheffield Hallam University came to us with a technology demo," he explains. "Any objects within the water in this prototype were affected by the flow, and the potential was great... If you're a duck, why not rescue some ducklings? It gives you a purpose and a reason!"

Such simple logic, and yet it turned out so brilliantly. We guess great things come from small beginnings, indeed, then. In case you still haven't jumped aboard the... er - duck wagon, there are over 60 levels to enjoy in Super Rub-a-Dub. In any case, we've grabbed some neat screenshots of the game, too, for your viewing pleasure.
