Yeah, it's a LuaPlayer, and this one's from Shine at the PS2Dev forums. What's different about this one is that it's been re-written with the SCons build management and is based on OpenGL for all graphics output. Check Wiki, OpenGL "is a standard specification defining a cross-language cross-platform API" for computer graphics, which leads to the other thing that's different. It's been released for the PSP, the PS3 (Linux), and Windows.

We shall henceforth and heretofore call this the One LuaPlayer to Rule Them All/And In The Darkness Bind Them. Until Sauron Shine comes up with the next version, or someone else comes up with something else like it. Here are the details for each LuaPlayer platform:
PSP: uses PSPGL (old hat, old friend), tested on 1.0 and 1.5, but doesn't run on kernel, so theoretically should work with other versions, too (that's unconfirmed, though). 3D rendering on the PSP is slow, though - Shine's hoping someone would step up with an idea to fix it.PS3: ...

Quite interesting. Xgrayninja posts in the IGN Boards what he claims are snippets of an interview between Gamepro and Hideo Kojima, but we can't seem to find the said interview at GamePro (exclusive to the GamePro mag, maybe?). According to one snippet, the centerfold-quality "back-to-the-wall" stealth pose Snake pulls in prior outings is gone. Hideo, elaborates:

(The signature Snake pose) rarely happens on the battlefield. Nobody is cool enough to hide like that. By eliminating this move, it's more like real life. Snake can hide behind something, then sneak a peek and shoot. There are more actions to it, and it's smoother that way.

There would have been some use for a back-to-the-wall, like, you know, up on a ledge only a foot's length in width, or when you're trying to squeeze through a gap as narrow as Snake is fat (which is to say, not at all). If all this is true, then we're wondering how Snake's gonna handle these situations the mentioned situations. We cou...

For those who have been wanting to finally get their hands on a copy of Enchanted Arms for the PS3, well, it may still be a bit of a wait since the PS3 version won't even be coming out in Japan until January 27, 2007.

So, just to help ease the waiting a bit, here's a couple of webisodes to keep you occupied for the moment, which pretty much shows how our group of heroes start out on their adventures, courtesy of From Software.

Enjoy!

There’s a new gameplay video of MotorStorm that you can watch just below this writing (you’ve probably already watched it before even reading a word I’ve written) courtesy of GameTrailers: I’m definitely getting MotorStorm when I finally get a PS3! Not only does it look great visually, it just screams fun especially in multiplayer [...]

Heads up for today's rumor, dear gamers. It seems that there's a job opening over at EA Mythic for a new producer, at least according to their memo. We're not usually too keen following corporate stuff and whatnot, but this offering looked interesting because of the starting line - Producer: WARHAMMER console.

Yes, you read it right. While we already from way back that Warhammer Online can run on a 360, it looks like Mythic's taking the next step. Unfortunately, there's not much news on this development aside from the long experience list required of the guys they're looking for. For the hopefuls out there, we suggest that you keep your eyes peeled until we can confirm this news.

If anything, we think the Xbox 360 and PS3 should be able to handle the game - both already have keyboard and mouse support, and Xbox Live's handling itself pretty well, with the PlayStation Network consistently picking up. If anything, we're just sore that there's no news of a Warhammer...

Online shopping's as fun as it is abundant. And while you can get just about anything online, there's always going to be a recurring favorite. All those who've just got a PS3 for Christmas and are thinking of installing Fedora Core, stop! Terrasoft have released the free version of Yellow Dog Linux. While you might be wondering that Fedora Core is much more popular, I'd advise you to go with Yellow Dog Linux because it is based on Fedora Core itself. Secondly, and much more importantly, it is very much optimised for the PS3, since it's specially made for it.

So now that you know about it, how would you go about installing it on your PS3? If you're new, you can just skip over to the download and further instructions section. For all the newbies who've just learned of this, I'll give you some info which will lay down the basics for you.

To install a second operating system on your PS3, you will need the following:
A PLAYSTATION 3 with a Hard Disk (20GB is fine).USB Keyboard, USB Mouse.A USB Storage Device. An ISO of the desired Linux distro.Sony PS3 Other OS Installer.OtherOS.bld file for the respective dis...

T-minus two days to next year, guys. And while you're wondering what's '07 got in store for us, let's take a look at some of the better things we've seen.

IGN's hosting an awarding ceremony over at their site, and it'll be covering the best of what's happened in 2006. And while it's a long list, taking a look at what's been good per console, we'll be focusing on their "Best Gear of 2006" collection.

Under this category, IGN reports that the best new console of 2006 was drumrolls the PS3, the Wii taking second place. IGN chalks up points for the PS3's sheer processing power, its packaging as a computer rather than as a gaming platform, and the availability of Linux supported distributions.

Sure the console's still got a long way to go given its slow start,  but given the package's initial strengths, it'll be interesting to see what will develop in the near future.

As for the other "Best gear of 2006":
Best Gaming Peripheral: Xbox 360 HD DVD...

Another celebrity report coming in here, courtesy of Kotaku (via ukmountie). British Prime Minister Tony Blair, wife Cherie Blair, and their three children are reportedly spending their week-long Boxing Day vacation over in Florida. It's also reported that they're spending it over at Robin Gibb's Summer home. Normally, we wouldn't be reporting this sort of thing - supermarket tabloids are for that - but another celebrity did catch our attention...

Yup, it's a PS3 box over there, being carried by Cherie Blair. What makes this photograph all the more intriguing is the controversy of the trip. Blair's already in hot water over this week-long vacation's expenditures, as senior Conservatives on parliament questioned whether this was coming out of the PM's own wallet, or from the taxpayers' money (Gibb's summer house costs about 40,000 a week to rent).

We'll leave you guys to deliberate on what this could mean, especially given what some people resort to...
